Web is huge Web is a cyberspace in which there is no barrier of time and distance. Information sources are created by millions of people and organization all the time from everywhere. The absence of any index to web resources is a serious limiation in harnessing web for ones' advanatge. Web lacks any central authority and for this reason it is a very messy place. In essence web is a chaotic place waiting for getting order.

Web is hetegeneous

The content on the web belong to all imaginable genere. Web content conists of text, images, pictures, sounds and multimedia. Even within text category- text might be in different formats: simple text, word processor format, or HTML format and so on. Organizing data of such a heavy heterogeneous nature is a herculean task.

Web is language sensitive

The content on the are in some popular languages. English is the most popular language on the web. This acts as a barrier for most of web users in India for accessing web contents and using them.

India opened up to Net in 1990's. Since then Indian government has been increasingly stressing the importance of net in the context of India's overall development. The Net as a medium of communication without the limitations of time and distance has come as boon in reaching to people in every nooks and corner of India both for government and business corporations. Although India is making big strides into the netway, the current net status remains very poor. The number of people who have access to net i.e net penetration is just 5.3%

To be successful in new Net world, India and its young and upcoming generation have to overcome certain challenges. Some of the challenges that Indian net user is facing are.

• Lack of connectivity
• Too much of global content
• Low local content
• Lack of search competence
